ViewDS 7.2
ViewDS 7.2 has been scheduled for release in February 2012. The
main focus of version 7.2 is to provide a range of capability enhancements
to ViewDS Access Sentinel, a new ViewDS module called Access Proxy
and an improved User Access capability to ViewDS Access Presence
as well as some Access control enhancements to ViewDS server itself.
The ViewDS v7.2 release will be available in two components. Firstly a candidate release of the ViewDS Access Sentinel
components will be released in late September 2011 with the full release including all capabilities in February 2012.
Some of the key features planned to be incorporated into version 7.2 include:
ViewDS Server
There will be a number of Access Control Extensions made to the ViewDS server.
ViewDS 7.2 will extend the sub-tree specification used to identify the scope of access controls to include a search filter.
This will add even more flexibility to ViewDS's access control model. For example it is now possible to:
• Identify the entries an access control applies to based on any attribute values. As an example permission to manage the
entries of all contractors entries no matter where they reside within the directory could be granted based on the presence
of 'employeeType=contractor' in their individual entries.
• Control the visibility of entries based on time and date.
Access controls have also been extended with an option to the protected items that applies a matching rule assertion to the
values of an entry. This allows for the filtering of attribute values. For example, it can facilitate attribute based access
control (ABAC) to specific values based on their security classification or security clearance e.g. Top Secret, Top Secret -
Australian Eyes Only.
There will also be Replication Extensions in the ViewDS v7.2 server components.
The extension to the subtree specification as described for access controls also applies to replication agreements. For
example, it is possible to identify the entries to be replicated to an external directory instance based on attribute values
(e.g. based on a 'publish' or 'do not publish' flag).
ViewDS Access Sentinel
XACML Access Control Scheme for ViewDS - An XACML based Access control scheme option will be implemented for access to
information stored in ViewDS (including XML based objects and schema). A new Demonstration and XACML Test and Audit tool
will be released to allow customers to evaluate Access Sentinel v1.0. A new XACML v3.0 Policy Administration Point tool to
allow users the ability create, edit, delegate and distribute policies across the enterprise will be released. This PAP
will also support the creation of Roles or importing of roles from other applications. XACML v3.0 Policy Enforcement
Points for Microsoft IIS and Apache will be provided as well as a Java and DotNet WSDL document library.
ViewDS Access Presence
HTTP Authentication - Authentication redirect will be supported and some improvements made in Session Management. A range
of new Single Sign On developments will supported in ViewDS Access Presence including Login using OpenID, Login using SAML
Assertions and allowing users to login using OpenID Information Cards.
ViewDS Management Agent
Various configuration capabilities will be added to the ViewDS Management Agent (VMA) to support all changes in Access
Control and Replication capabilities plus the configuration of all new modules. Finally a new Automatic self-documentation
feature for ViewDS will be made available.
ViewDS Access Proxy
A new add on module to ViewDS Server to support LDAP, DAP and XML Proxy Services for a range of customers requirements
will be provided. This new capability will allow ViewDS to support the TSCP Certificate Look Up Community as well as
Chaining operations to LDAP servers.

software online and get access to evaluation copies and other sales support material.
